Defining Intelligence

Intelligence is:

  • Ability to abstract – to be able to separate pieces from a whole or a group that define a pattern that has significance and make a copy of the pattern
  • Ability to discern likenesses and differences in copied patterns and categorize them
  • Ability to compare pattern categorizations to different objects or groups and apply the categorizations
  • Ability to break down abstract patterns into components and assemble new patterns from them

These are the building blocks we need for calculating, reasoning, thinking, problem solving, learning, and predicting.
